the gathering
Most of the time, coffee reaches us already finished. It's made by someone we don't know, behind a counter we don't cross. We drink it, daily, to shape our energy, or maybe for taste, but rarely do we sit patiently with it. The long chain of hands and steps that carry it from fruit to cup is hidden. We meet it only at the end, and even then, only in part. The selection and preparation of coffees will explore how backstory and process shapes taste, how that knowing pulls us into a relation with the act and product, and how these threads build up the fabric of belonging.
When the last coffee is poured, there's space to stay — to write, to talk, or to sit quietly. The ceremony doesn't wrap up so much as loosen its edges, letting the rest of the day back in. What remains is a memory of what was tasted, but also of the way attention can open a small, ordinary thing into something that feels like home.
You need not have a background in coffee, or an established taste for it, to join us. We welcome individuals with any familiarity with coffee.
We also encourage you to come as an individual. Coming with others is welcomed, too, yet we think the connective and relational dimensions of our time together is uniquely suited for a group that has little pre-existing dynamics.

faq
How much does this cost?
The standard price for a ticket is $100. This reflects the significant costs that come with each gathering, from ceramic and glassware to tables, ingredients, venue, and more. We hope that, in time, we can lower these expenses and make the experience even more accessible.
However, to keep the event as accessible as possible, we are offering a sliding-scale contribution starting at $60.
Once you’re invited, we’ll ask you to confirm your spot by making a payment. We trust you to choose an amount within the sliding scale that reflects your means and honors the work and care that goes into creating this experience :)
How long does the experience last?
The experience is 90 minutes, with an optional second-room for continued inquiry. We suggest allocating at least 120 minutes, inclusive of arriving a few minutes early and the experience running a few minutes over.
After filling out the interest form, when will I be notified if I am offered a spot?
We intend to respond to all those who expressed interest, with 5-7 days notice. In this response, you will either be offered a spot or be put on a waitlist. If its the former, you’ll have 48 hours to confirm your attendance before your spot will be given to someone else. If you are on the waitlist, we’ll contact you if a spot avails itself for you.
If you fill out the form after the 15th, we cannot guarantee that there will still be spots available. If there are, we will contact you.
Will the ceremony be silent?
There will be a mix of silence and conversation, time to attend to the preparation of coffee and to discuss with those next to you.
Is there any formality, or dress-code?
No. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
When should I arrive?
Please plan to arrive 5 minutes before the start time. We’ll begin inviting people into the venue 0-5 minutes before the start time, and we’ll attempt to begin promptly thereafter.
Can I cancel if I can no longer attend?
Sadly, we cannot offer refunds at any time.
Can I take photos or videos during the event?
When you arrive, we will kindly ask that you label and silence your phone, and place it in a basket which we’ll set off safely to the side. Following the 90 minutes, you may then access your phone again. We encourage you to not take pictures or video during the event.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, your reservation is inclusive of everything.
